Gratkorn to benefit from significant upgrade as part of Sappi Fine Paper Europe’s strategic cost reduction plan. The investment at Sappi’s Gratkorn Mill will focus on upgrading pulp production facilities as well as improving papermaking capabilities to secure a significantly lower cost base for the mill. The announcement supports Sappi Fine Paper Europe’s continued drive for cost leadership and improved profitability.
New Power Plant in Kirkniemi Mill announced as part of Sappi Fine Europe’s strategic cost reduction plan. Sappi has announced that it will make a significant investment over the next three years in order to build a new power plant at the Kirkniemi Mill in Lohja, Finland. The move supports Sappi Fine Paper Europe’s strategic drive for cost leadership and improved profitability throughout the company.
Sappi Fine Paper Europe has confirmed investment plans over the next three years amounting to approximately €120 million for its two leading coated graphic paper mills which will significantly reduce the cost base and improve the profitability of these two worldclass mills.
Sappi Fine Paper Europe will increase prices, for both wood free sheets and reels, by 5% - 8% in Latin America, Middle East and Africa as from January 2014 productions. Today’s cost structure and the low levels of profitability make this price increase inevitable.

Sappi Fine Paper Europe and Swiss Karton + Papier AG (KAPAG) are joining forces to launch Sappi’s bright white cellulose carton brands Algro Design and KAPAG’s Algro Duo to the French printing and packaging market.

Sappi was recognised with an award for ‘Advances and Innovation in Speciality Papers’ for its flexible packaging papers with a functional Mineral Oil Barrier (MOB). The annual PPI Awards were launched in 2009 by RISI, the leading information provider to the global forest products industry.
